Pure Adapt Hair Removal Device

Step 1: Complete a patch test 24 hours before your first use (see User Manual).

Step 2: Shave your skin and pat completely dry.

Step 3: Plug in, press the treatment head against your skin and turn on.

Step 4: Select your treatment and comfort modes. Then either stamp or glide the device, based on your selected mode.

Step 5: Once you’ve completed your treatment, unplug and safely store.

Expert Advice: Do NOT apply gel, cream or lotion before or during your IPL session. Use once per week for 12 weeks, then top up once every 4 to 8 weeks afterwards.

SmoothSkin devices have been developed with safety at the forefront and are safe to use for eyes, without the need for eye protection.

All SmoothSkin devices have 4 skin contact sensors that ensure the device flashes only when pressed firmly against your skin, never into the air. However, you should never attempt to fire on it, or close to, the eye itself.

To get the most out of your device you should start off by using it once a week for 12 weeks continuously. After the initial 12 weeks, you can then switch to maintenance treatments every 4 to 8 weeks, or as required. There is no increased benefit from using the SmoothSkin Pure Adapt more than once a week.

SmoothSkin Pure Adapt is effective on skin types I to V on the Fitzpatrick Scale and blonde to dark hair.

IPL technology is based on the relation between melanin in the skin and hair. It can be ineffective on white, grey or red hair. Since grey and white hair do not contain enough or any melanin, IPL treatment may not work on these hair colours.

Red hair contains a different type of melanin, which is not responsive to IPL.

IPL is unsafe for deep skinned users, as the skin is rich in melanin and could absorb more than the safe amount of energy.

No, most people describe a treatment as a slight tingling or warm sensation. In recent clinical trials, users rated the discomfort of a SmoothSkin treatment at just 1 out of 10. However, please note this does vary from person to person, depending on hair colour and hair density. If you are a little sensitive to the treatment at first, we recommend to select Gentle Mode, which can help you get used to the experience.

Light energy is transferred through the skin’s surface and is absorbed by melanin present in the hair shaft. The absorbed light energy is converted to heat energy (below the skin’s surface) which disables the hair follicle, preventing further growth.

After treatment, always switch off the device by unplugging the electrical outlet. Before and after every use, wipe clean with a soft, lint free cloth. We recommend carefully cleaning the contour adapters with a slightly damp cotton bud.

The glass filter can get hot during use, please do NOT touch or clean the filter for at least 5 minutes after use to allow the window to cool down. Do not use water or other cleaning fluids, as these can damage the device leading to a potential safety hazard.
