Theragun Elite vs Theragun mini: How do they compare?

The Therabody story began in 2007 when its founder, Dr. Jason Wersland, was involved in an accident and left with muscle and nerve pain. After searching for a device to provide some relief - with no luck - he set out to create his own, and launched the first Theragun device in 2016.

Here, we compare two of their bestselling massage devices - the Theragun Elite and Theragun mini.

The Basics

Both the Theragun Elite and Theragun mini are Percussive Therapy devices - scientifically calibrated to reach deep into the muscles and stimulate heat and blood flow, helping to bring oxygen in and flush toxins out, essentially hydrating the muscles back to health. Not only will your recovery and warm up be boosted but posture and flexibility will also improve.

Powerful Performance

Both the Theragun Elite and Theragun mini devices have a proprietary brushless motor that uses QuietForce Technology to deliver the unrivalled and renowned Theragun power and speed, whilst being quieter than ever.

Theragun Elite features speed control within a range of 1750-2400 percussions per minute, while the Theragun mini has 3 speed varieties - 1750, 2100, and 2400 percussions per minute - allowing you to personalise your muscle massage and get the exact treatment your body needs.

Smart & Safe Design

When using the devices, you’ll realise how lightweight and easy to hold they are. That’s because both have been designed with ergonomics as a priority. The Theragun Elite features a patented triangle, multi-grip design, which was carefully designed to prevent users experiencing strain and tension while using the device.

All of the attachment heads that come with the Theragun Elite and mini are made from a non porous, closed-cell foam too which doesn’t absorb sweat, oil or lotions - making it easy-to-clean and hygienic.

Depth, speed, and force are key to any deep muscle treatment, but Theragun impacts muscle with a targeted, scientifically calibrated dose for greater therapeutic benefits for the body. The Theragun Elite has a 16mm amplitude that reaches 60% deeper into the muscle than consumer-grade vibration massagers to stimulate circulation, generate heat and release your deepest tension, whilst the mini has a 12mm amplitude.

The speed and frequency with which Theragun Percussive Therapy devices go on and then come off of the body keeps the brain from acclimating to the stimulation. This maximizes the therapeutic effects each time the device makes contact with the body. The continuous stimulation distracts the brain away from the pain while also delivering deep, effective treatment more comfortable than manual therapy.

So, what makes them different?

The Theragun Elite is the quietest device from Theragun and can be personalised with 5 attachment heads for large and small muscle groups, bony areas, trigger points and pinpoint muscle treatment. As well as this, it connects to an app experience on your phone where you can enjoy guided routines and wellness advice based on your lifestyle and activity.

Compact but powerful, the mini is Theragun’s smallest device and fits snuggly into the palm of your hand. Compact, portable, and weighing under 1.5lbs, the Mini is ideal for taking with you to the gym, work or even out and about on walks and hikes.
