Our home use Microdermabrasion devices allow you to perform the treatment safely at home and without having to pay salon prices. Microdermabrasion works by removing dead skin cells from the top layer of skin, called the stratum corneum. Specially designed discs with slightly rough surfaces move across the skin to slough away any dead skin cells and those cells, which previously dulled the surface of your skin, are then sucked away by a vacuum.
This process not only removes those dead cells that were obscuring your skins true glow, but the process of removing them makes the skin think it has suffered a mild injury. This means that it rushes to replace the lost skin cells with new, healthy ones.
The result is reduced appearance of fine lines and sun damage, a smoother skin surface and reduction in appearance of scars. Your creams and serums penetrate deeper into the skin as they are not being trapped on the surface by dead skin cells, meaning you will feel the benefits of the active ingredients and moisturising properties contained within them.
Home Microdermabrasion definitely shouldn’t be painful. The suction used can take a bit of getting used to but if it hurts, stop! Some users find the get slightly painful red marks after use but this is often because they have moved the device too slowly over the skin and accidently gone one layer too deep, giving themselves dermabrasion. Top tip: glide your device quickly over the area you are working on.
Home use Microderms allow you to either introduce your skin to the wonders of Microdermabrasion without paying salon prices or to top up your treatments in between visits to the salon. Many users find they get an instant glow to their skin after the very first treatment but if you are looking to treat fine lines or sun damage, we would expect you to see results after 6-8 weeks of use. If you’re after touchably soft and youthful looking skin, then read on to find out more about exciting devices on offer.
Of course, having a professional perform your microdermabrasion treatment is great. They they have done it many times before and know exactly how to target certain areas, what pressure to apply and how to move the device across your skin. However, salon treatments are not just tough on the purse but also tough on your time. A home microderm treatment can take just 5-10 minutes of your day rather than the hour or more you need to take out to travel to and from the salon as well as having the treatment performed. In terms of effectiveness, both the PMD and the Riiviva mimic the exact design of salon microderms and many salons even use these two devices to perform treatments on clients!
