What is a Power Plate?

Developed to optimise the effects of Acceleration Training exercise, the Power Plate machine is one of the most exciting technological advances in the fields of sports athletics, beauty, health and fitness.
Delivering a full body workout in as little as 15 minutes, regular exercise on a Power Plate machine - when used as part of a healthy lifestyle - can help to improve core strength and stability in as little as three times a week. Acceleration Training exercise provides many benefits to a wide range of users (see below for full list).


How does it work?

The Power Plate machine works by transferring vibrations to muscles, which naturally activates reflexive muscle contractions. By holding different positions on the machine’s vibrating platform for up to 60 seconds, you are able to target specific areas of the body. Perform a squat, bicep curl or stomach crunch, and multiple muscle groups are activated simultaneously to stretch, tone or strengthen. Acceleration Training exercise is low impact, enabling anyone, regardless of their age or fitness level, to benefit from a fast and effective workout without putting strain on joints or other parts of the body.

The my5 model has a number of functionality changes and improvements, largely based on feedback received on the my3 machine over the years. Some of the key features are:
  • The my5 base plate is 50% larger and kidney-shaped, imitating the pro series. This allows greater exposure to the 3-dimensional vibrations and allows greater transverse leverage for many exercises and stretches.

  • The Power Plate my5 machine comes with a remote control, allowing the user to adopt the correct exercise position before starting the plate. This is particularly useful for floor exercises where the main console may be out of reach.

  • The my5 model comes with a base time display allowing the user to see the time elapse, which is again useful when completing floor exercises.

  • The my5 main console is more sophisticated with greater exercise possibilities, including 4 pre-set programmes for strength, stretch, massage and relaxation.

Power Plate FAQ:

Will Power Plate equipment help me to lose weight?

Acceleration Training exercise on the Power Plate machine raises metabolism, so you will burn more calories. Therefore, a regular workout on Power Plate machines is beneficial as part of a weight loss plan, but aerobic exercise and calorific intake must be taken into consideration as well.

Will the Power Plate machine cause structural damage to my house?

No. It’s installed at many different properties, with no adverse effect to the building.

Can it be installed upstairs/on a first floor?

Yes, however you may hear a slight noise in the room below when the Plate is in use. Each workout will only last between 15-30mins however, so this doesn’t normally cause too much inconvenience.

Can it be put onto any type of flooring?

Yes, so long as it’s an even surface then the Power Plate machine can be put onto all flooring, including carpet. We do also sell an absorbent mat if required.

How noisy is the Power Plate machine?

It does vary depending on which floor type the machine is put on, and whether it is on low or high frequency, but the noise is largely similar to a washing machine.

Can Power Plate exercise be undertaken by elderly people?

Yes. One of the major benefits is that it’s suitable for a wide range of people, from professional athletes to elderly people. Many elderly people use Power Plate training to strengthen and co-ordinate muscles to prevent falls later in life.

Can the machine be moved easily?

The my3 model and the my5 machine both weigh approximately 90kg, and require at least two people to move. If you do need to move the machine from time to time, it would be possible.

How long should I train for?

Depending on your level of fitness and your personal goals, sessions should last anywhere from 10 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes.

Can I use the Power Plate machine every day?

When using the machine for strength training you do need to leave 48 hours between sessions, as your muscles need this time to break down and rebuild stronger. However you can use the Power Plate machine for massage and stretching on a more regular basis.

How much electricity does it use?

Very little, it works out at about 2 pence per hour, which is even less than a kettle!

I have seen a machine online for £200, how does your product differ?

There are many products available, but Power Plate equipment is the market leader with over 10 years’ experience in Acceleration Training exercise. It is often found that cheaper products do not have the same build quality as Power Plate machines, and many do not specify exactly which frequency they work out at, which could inflict harm to the body.

How quickly can I expect to see results?

This depends on many things, including how often/hard you work on the Power Plate machine. It also depends on what results you are looking for. However, from generally if you follow the recommended programmes you should feel yourself getting stronger within about one month to six weeks. Then after about two months you should start to see visible results. However there are many other variables such as other exercise and diet.
