The Science

The gluteal muscles of the bottom are the largest in the body and are comprised of the maximus,medius and minimus. Together, these 3 muscles control extension (bringing the leg behind the body) and abduction (moving the leg away from the side of the body) of the hip joint. The gluteal muscles make a significant contribution to your core stabilising muscles which, if correctly trained, can significantly reduce the incidence and reoccurrence of injury to the lower back and knee joint. As well as enhance the performance of both everyday tasks and sporting endeavours.


Will it hurt?
No! But you do want to ensure that you are working the muscles. When you first put on the product and turn it on you are at the lowest setting. As you increasthe intensity (to level 25 and beyond), the sensation goes from a tingly feel, to a distinct muscle contraction and relaxed state. These feelings will alternate. It feels like you are tightening/ flexing and then releasing/ relaxing your muscles. This is good because feeling the muscles work lets you know the product is doing what it is supposes to! It is very important to strive for this distinct feeling,to ensure that you get a full workout. All Slendertone products have 99 intensity levels so you can customise your workout to your own fitness level. As you advance, your muscles will get stronger and firmer, and you will become accustomed to the feeling of muscle conditioning. Be sure to periodically increase the intensity to continue to challenge your muscles

What is EMS and how does it work?
